Studies on the Arteries of the Korean Human Kidney Using Latex Cast Technique

Abstract
Geon D 11 A latex molding specimens of renal arteries and collecting systems nranufacturcd frcm 133 normal Korean adult kidneys were studied. The main regal artery was divided into anterior and posterior divisions, anterior segmental arteries being subdivided ir.to group 1, Il, III and IV on tte tasis of distrib¡©ution form, and posterior segmental arteries into type P1, L? U, and T on the tasis of tte origin frcm the main renal artery, in addition renal collecting systems into group A, B, C, D and E on the tasis of pelvis and calyceal form. Renal segmental arteries were classified on the basis of classification by Graves, Arai and Fine & Keen, renal collecting systems on the basis of classification by Miyauchi and Fine & Keen, and the incidence of each group of segmental arteries and collecting systems was studied. Through the comparative observation of interrelation between renal segmental arteries and collecting systems the following results were obtained.
1. The anterior segmental arteries were subdivided into group 1 (43.6%), group I (41.6%), group I (13.9%) and group IV (1.0%) in the order. Posterior segmental arteries were subdivided into type P1(48.0%), type L1(27.6%), type T(15.3%) and type U1(9.2%) in the order.
2. The interrelation between anterior and posterior segmental arteries was noted that type P1 was mainly composed of group 1(40.4%) and I (42.6%), type L1 of group 1 (55.6%) and 1 (40.7%), two thirds of type U1 of group I and one half of type T of group 1, one fourth of type T of group I and I, respectively.
3. The renal collecting systems were subdivided into group C (30.1%), group B(27.1%), group A(24. 1%), group D(13. 5%) and group E(5.3%) in the order.
4. The interrelation between renal collecting systems and anterior segmental arteries was noted ti-at group A was mainly corn oscd of group I and 1 (74. 0%), and so was in group B(96. 0%), group C(84.4%), group 15(37.5%) and group E(100%o), respectively. The interrelation between renal collectingsystems and posterior scgmental arteries wzs voted ttat one ball of group A and B was composed of type P,, the one fifth of group A and B, type L,, the one third of group C, type P, and L, each other, the one fifth of group C, type T, the one fourth of group D, type P,, L? U, and T one another, and the one third of group E, type P,, L, and U,, respectively.
